Solving Anxiety and Worry is Simple ( but not always Easy )

Would you like to be free from anxiety in your life?
It is very simple, though not an easy thing to do.

It only requires that you trust
in a loving God who cares for you.

First you must trust Jesus Christ to be your Savior.
The one who forgives your sins
and offers you the gift of eternal life.
Believe that He died and rose again.
By trusting in Him
and His substitutional payment on the Cross,
you can become a child of God.
This new relationship is the path
to the love, joy, and peace we all crave.

If you have not yet been "born again",
please consider these two passages:
John 1:12-13
But as many as received Him,
to them He gave the right
to become children of God,
to those who believe in His name:
who were born, not of blood,
nor of the will of the flesh,
nor of the will of man, but of God.

and the passage that opened my eyes to see the gospel,
Ephesians 2:8,9
For by grace you have been saved
through faith,
and that not of yourselves;
it is the gift of God,
not of works,
lest anyone should boast.

If you are trusting in what Jesus has done for you,
and not trying to "earn" the gift of eternal life,
Then the next step is to start trusting in God
for your day to day life.
You should be "talking" to Him all day long.
He is always available.
You can also benefit from time spent with other Christians,
listening to Christian music,
and of course by reading the Bible.

I know the Bible is a big book
spanning thousands of years,
but it is the best resource for learning
about who God is,
and the relationship He created you for.

You will find thousands of passages
about God's love.
There are many examples and promises
you can use
to push out the fear,
doubts,
and anxious thoughts
that pop up in your head.

Now, if you made it this far,
let me share some of my favorite verses
that I use to remind myself:
that I have nothing to be anxious about:
because my Father loves me,
and He hears my every thought.

Jesus explained many times and in many ways
why we should not be anxious.

Matthew 6:25-34;
Using several examples,
we are told not to worry about our need for food and shelter,
because our Father knows our needs.

Matthew 10:29-31;
We are told not to fear,
because the Father is aware of everything that happens.
Even a sparrow that falls,
or the number of hairs on your head.
You are valued a whole lot more than many sparrows

You'll find many more of Jesus' words of encouragement,
if you read through the 4 Gospels
at the beginning of the New Testament.

The apostle Paul
shares how to have peace and joy
in his letters to the churches.
My favorite passage is found in the letter to the Philippians,
chapter 4 verses 4–9.
The "formula" for peace is found in Verse 6 and 7,
Where we read:
Be anxious for nothing,
but in everything by prayer and supplication,
with thanksgiving,
let your requests be made known to God;
and the peace of God,
which surpasses all understanding,
will guard your hearts and minds
through Christ Jesus.

He also shares in verses 8 and 9,
how it's important to be filling your mind with the good and positive,
in order to have continuous peace of mind.
I'll let you look that one up yourself.

The apostle Peter makes it clear
we are to be sharing all our problems with God in prayer.
1 Peter 5:7 states:
casting all your care upon Him,
for He cares for you.
or as most modern translations read:
Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.

In the book of Hebrews ( also in the New Testament ),
Chapter 4:12 - 16
we find that we can take all our needs to God,

In verse 16 we read:
Let us therefore come boldly
to the throne of grace,
that we may obtain mercy and find grace
to help in time of need.

In almost every book of the Old Testament
We find promises and words of encouragement
concerning the power and love of our God.
In Isaiah I found a verse that I cling to tightly.
It tells us to FEAR NOT,
and the reason why.
Isaiah 41:13 says:
For I, the Lord your God,
will hold your right hand,

Saying to you,
‘Fear not,
I will help you.’

The simple solution to anxiety is having faith.
Believing that God personally loves and cares for you.

So, why is it so hard to do this?
The short answer would be
that our minds are full of negative and untrue thoughts.
We allow the world and modern media
to fill our thoughts with "junk",
instead of experiencing a relationship with our Creator.
The more you learn about Him,
and share your problems with Him,
the more your faith can grow.
Pushing out the fears.

This is something we have to work on each day.
It's not easy.
It requires you to make choices about how you spend your time.
How much of your time do you spend reading the Bible
and talking to your Heavenly Father?
Or how much of your time is spent
letting the world fill your mind with
the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes,
and the boastful pride of life?

Do I get this right every day?
Nope.

However, through constant daily effort,
the more I allow God's word to fill my mind,
Taking everything to God in prayer,
the more joy and peace I experience.

I hope you are encouraged by this brief message,
and will be inspired to draw closer to God as a result.

"Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful.
And let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works,
not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some,
but exhorting one another,
and so much the more as you see the Day approaching.
Hebrews 10:23-25
